This project aims at further developing and strengthening the capacity of DCA Iraq’s national mine action partner, IHSCO. This means that DCA trains and mentors multiple clearance teams employed by IHSCO, in order for these teams to operate safely and effectively.
The partnership is also aiming to provide advice, assistance and training to the Ministry of Interior, local police, Civil Defence and Iraq’s mine action authorities to manage, regulate and coordinate a response.
Together, DCA and IHSCO support humanitarian relief and longer-term development efforts as well as stabilization efforts and peacebuilding in areas retaken from ISIL by conducting risk education, survey and clearance operations.
